Winter Weather Overview:

Area At Risk for Impactful Winter Weather:

  • Northeastern British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan

Begins: This evening through Saturday morning from northwest to southeast with most locations beginning Saturday morning.

Ends: From northwest to southeast Saturday evening through mid-to-late Sunday morning.

Threat(s): Moderate to Heavy Snow

  • Totals of 5-10 inches (10-25 cm).

Additional Details:

  • Light snow will begin today across northeastern British Columbia and Alberta with light accumulations of 1-3 inches possible during the day before the moderate to heavy snowfall moves in this evening into Saturday morning and continues through mid-to-late Sunday morning.
  • The highest snow rates are expected Saturday afternoon.
  • Wind gusts of 20-30 mph will result in some blowing and drifting.
Potential Disruptions & Recovery Weather:

  • Snowfall rates as high as 1-2 inches per hour.
  • Visibility below 1/2 mile at times is expected due to falling and blowing snow.
  • Travel will become slowed to difficult during the day on Saturday as the snow accumulates and will continue through Sunday morning.
  • Temperatures will remain below freezing after the storm through Sunday limiting any natural snowmelt, however conditions will be favorable for mechanical snow removal following the storm.
